Annual Parking Lot Garage Inspection Checklist for Building Managers
Free online resource includes questions, check boxes, and detailed visual references for damage.
Masonry and concrete restoration specialist Western Specialty Contractors has created a parking garage maintenance and inspection checklist for building owners and facility managers, available to download for free here or at the firm’s website.
The visual guide and checklist, "How to Take the Guesswork Out of Your Parking Garage Inspections," includes simple questions, check boxes, and detailed photos of damage to parking-structure components, including rust, water stains, exposed rebar, efflorescence, and spalling and cracking, to aid building staff in identifying and tracking issues.
“Our easy-to-use guide takes the guesswork out of identifying damage and hazards within parking structures so that a routine maintenance program can be established and the structure can be kept in a safe condition for users,” said Carter Pogue, sales and project manager for Western Specialty Contractors, in a statement.
The company notes that all types of parking structures are susceptible to environmental wear and tear, and warns that ineffective maintenance can lead to higher costs, liability issues, and safety concerns.
"The damaging and compounding cycle of water infiltration and wear and tear to a parking structure never improves on its own, and the longer the warning signs are ignored, the more serious and costly the repairs can become," Pogue says.
